Parents can sign up as an observer in Canvas. Observers can link their Canvas account to their student's account so they can see assignment dues dates, announcements, and other course content. Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.

Notes

To ‘Observe’ a student, you must first have a student pairing code. Students can generate this code in their student account for parents. Parents of younger students will have this code emailed to them

If you do not have a code and cannot get a code from your student, please contact your students’ teacher. They will also be able to provide you with a pairing code.

Pairing Codes are single-use and expire after seven days.

1. Using a computer, follow this link to the Parent Login page for Whitnall Canvas. After your account is created, you may want to bookmark this site in your browser for future use. https://whitnall.instructure.com/login/canvas

2. Click the link “Click Here for an Account”

3. Enter the required information in each field.

- A Student Pairing Code will be required to continue past this step.

After creating your account, you will be able to begin observing your student immediately

4. Adding Another Student to observe.

- After logging in, click Account
- Select Observing

5. Enter the Student Pairing Code of the new student
